Hello, friends! I’m back this week with yet ANOTHER friendly interrogation. I’ve been nominated by the wonderful BookmarkedOne for the Liebster Award!
Here are the rules:
- Thank the blogger nominator (Thank you, BookmarkedOne!!)
- Answer the 11 questions
- Nominate 11 more bloggers
- Ask your 11 nominated bloggers 11 questions
Be sure to check out BookmarkedOne’s post here because it’s excellent and the bit about the violin music is the BEST and had me grinning for about ten minutes XD
Let’s get to the questions, shall we?
*
What book/movie/pop culture thing do you recommend to everyone?
I’m going to surprise absolutely no one by saying The Sherwood Ring by Elizabeth Marie Pope. I’ve been recommending this book to anyone and everyone in the blogosphere for AGES, and I will continue to do so for the foreseeable future (because so many people have never even heard of it!). Witty characters, banter, a pot of baked beans? What’s not to like?
(I also recommend Avatar: The Last Airbender to anyone and everyone, which I know is cliche at this point, but there’s a REASON everyone recommends it.)
What are you reading right now?
I’m in the middle of Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells (book 3 in The Murderbot Diaries). I was made aware of Murderbot’s existence through this excellent post by Sarah Seele and was intrigued enough to hunt down the books at the library.
I sometimes have a hard time keeping up with where exactly we are and what is happening and how the technology works. And every time a marriage is mentioned I’m just… *blink blink*
But Murderbot though.
I was not expecting to be as attached to Murderbot as I am. I’m having actual feelings. I love Murderbot dearly.
What is the coolest thing about your blog?
the comment thread with Jem Jones on my most recent One Quirk Later post
This isn’t specific to my blog, but I love the fact that, through blogging, I can recommend books and get recommendations from others and discover new favorites and scream about them with everyone and send each other metaphorical cake and such. ๐
Why did you decide to start blogging?
So you know the part in the book Ender’s Game where Peter and Valentine essentially take over the world via blogging?
…I’m not actually sure why I brought that up. I’m definitely not trying to take over the world.
*sweats*
What random thing about yourself do you want to share (can you yodel? Do you hate polka dots? Did you once sail around the world)?
Here’s something a lot of people don’t know about me (including people I know in real life):
I’m a rapper.
I’m not saying I’m a good rapper, but I write raps and I really enjoy rapping. (When you rap a fast/complicated section and you come out of it with this ADRENELINE RUSH and you want to jump off a car or something and you’re pretty sure you feel much cooler than you look and sound, but still???!!!) I love it.
I can rap almost every single word of When I Grow up by NF and I rock out to it with such CONVICTION because…no one would look at me and think I would be a rapper XD
Favorite travel destination (real or fictional)?
I have every fictional destination ever to choose from, but all I can think right now is THE BEACH THE BEACH THE BEACH.
At the beginning of 2020 I had tentative plans to go to the beach later in the year. For obvious reasons, those plans never came to fruition, and my sisters and I have been loudly lamenting the fact ever since.
I don’t even want to go to a tropical beach. I know people who are like, “Oh, to live on a tropical island where it’s always warm!” but… I’ve never found that prospect all that inspiring. I just want to see the OCEAN and feel that kind of wind that takes your breath away and agggggghhhhhhhh. I would like this now, please.
I also need to see a real live castle at least once before I die. Because CLEARLY.
What piece of wisdom did you once really need to hear?
I have some incredible people in my life who have given me great wisdom in times of need.
…But all that’s coming to mind right now are song lyrics I’ve had stuck in my head recently that really resonate with me.
The sun will rise
And we will try again
–Truce, Twenty One Pilots
Cause I know that I don’t want to die
Sitting around watching my life go by
–This Week the Trend, Relient K
Where do you go when you need inspiration?
BOOKS. I READ ALL THE BOOKS.
I also watch lots of movies/ tv shows and listen to lots of music. Basically I devour art. (Even if it’s not good art. One of the books I’ve written that I’m most proud of was partly sparked by random extras in a really dumb TV show, so…these things can happen.)
And go outside! Sometimes I’m struggling to find inspiration, but then I take a walk and I’m like, “I could write a scene where it’s FOGGY” or I pass someone on the street holding a potted plant and I’m like, “What is the story here, there is definitely a story here.” Or I get an idea that has nothing to do with what I’m seeing. (Which is FINE with me. I don’t need to be able to logically trace the origin of my inspiration. If it’s here, I take it.)
What is the most beautiful place to you (your couch, a meadow under the stars, etc.)?
I feel like this is sort of cheating, but I want to say the SKY. Just…the sky in general.
I love stars, and sunsets, and thunderstorms, and clouds silhouetted against the moon.
I will never get over how incredibly beautiful the sky is.
What would you love to try (crochet! Yodeling! Sailing around the world!)?
PARKOUR.
I mean…I would probably be really bad at it. But it would be SO COOL.
Favorite dessert (everyone should have at least one)?
CHEEEEEEESE CAKE.
CHEESE CAKE WITH RASPBERRY SAUCE.
*sigh of longing*
*
I think that’s it for today! (Actively avoids making eye-contact with the last two rules because I stayed up way too late last night stabbing goblins and I’m too sleep-deprived to come up with questions, help.)
Thanks again to BookmarkedOne and be sure to check out their blog!
What’s something you would recommend to anyone and everyone? Where do you go for inspiration? What are you reading right now? What’s a place you would like to visit someday? How sleep-deprived are you right now? Do tell!

(cheers for your lovely post)
You have outdone yourself (with cheesecake on top)! I’m so glad you decided to participate.
But as for visiting a castle…I can say from experience there are more around than you think. And yes, you absolutely must visit at least one.
Congratulations again! ๐

Thank you! With so many castles around, I really should be able to get to one if I set my mind to it…. *sets my mind to it*
Thanks for the questions ๐

I still havenโt watched avatar….but I have seen the avatar movie? (THE ONE WITH THE NAโVI NOT THE BAD LIVE ACTION ATLA, IโVE HEARD THATโS A WORSE ADAPTION THAN THE PETER JOHNSON MOVIES)
*whispers* rapping is fun….even though the extent of my rapping is Hamilton and this one I wrote once about climate change (shhhhh no comments need to be made about this)
Beaches are good. Ocean is friend. Very apathetic friend, but a good listener.
Oooh I like the quotes (I nearly typed lik, whoops) (โyes we lick the quotes hereโ)
Sky ๐ ๐ ๐
CAKE ๐ ๐ ๐
Iโm honestly insulted that you didnโt invite me to stab goblins with you? * shocked hurt gasp*

I’m so glad you specified which avatar movie because I was about to be very concerned and shout “DON’T JUDGE AVATAR BY THE LIVE-ACTION ABOMINATION, YOU MUST WATCH THE SHOW.” XD
Ooh, rapping Hamilton is so much fun. I can rap every single word of My Shot, and doing it gets me SO EXCITED. (I like to try to do Nonstop all by myself, but…it doesn’t work out quite as well)
“Ocean is friend.” Yes indeed. โค
Haha, yes, we lick the quotes. They are ice-cream to our ears.
The goblins attacked so fast, I didn't have time to invite you! Next time I see goblins I will be sure to send some your way ๐

My Shot is pretty good! I really like doing Guns and Ships and Washington On Your Side, mostly because I was super proud of myself once I learnt them.
Tasty ice cream quotes, delicious
I eagerly await my goblin battle! Iโm sure I will emerge triumphant. Let me just get my sword……oh no. Theyโre here! *dramatic radio static*

Ooh, yes Guns and Ships! I don’t know Washington on Your Side as well, but I sort of melt a little bit listening to it because WOW LOOK AT THEM GO (…listen to them go, I guess?)
Ack, I hope you successfully defeat the goblins! They ones I sent your way were pretty large and intimidating…

I belive The Sherwood Ring just came in for me at the library, and I am so excited to read it! (And irritated, because our library is unreasonable and won’t let me get it until TUESDAY. What is up with that?)
I keep meaning to read the Murderbot books! They seem like something I would like. (But would they be the thing that would push my TBR over the edge? Quite possibly. I guess we’ll have to test it out. XD)
YES the book recommendations and metaphorical cake, and just the camaraderie of the blogosphere! We loves it, precious!
WHAT you’re a rapper? That is SO COOL!
SKY. That’s such a good answer, I love it, too!

Aggh, I’m so excited for you! I’m really curious to hear what you think after you read it (even if your thoughts are, “Pshaw, I didn’t like any of the characters except the bean pot) ๐ (But also why must libraries be unreasonable and make us wait??)
The Murderbot books are…weird. There’s some content that I’m not a fan of, and they world it’s set in is weirdly depressing–but MURDERBOT though. (But yes, I think I can hear your TBR screeching in horror from here…)
Yesss, we loves it.
Hehehe, thank you. I’m definitely very cool ๐
